1. Who We Are
Cadenly is a mobile application operated by Cadenly ("we", "us", "our"). Cadenly connects cyclists and runners with training partners based on pace, location, and schedule. Our contact email is hello@cadenly.app.
2. Data We Collect
Account Information
When you create an account via Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive your name and email address (or a relay email in the case of Apple's Hide My Email feature). We store a display name you choose and an optional profile photo you upload.
Profile and Training Data
To match you with compatible training partners, we collect information you provide during onboarding and in your profile: your sport (cycling, running, or both), pace or speed range, watts range (optional, for cyclists), availability (days of the week), and a short bio.
Location Data
Cadenly is a location-based service. We collect and store your Home Base location (the area where you typically train), optional Regular Training Location, and optional Visiting Location. When you create session posts or events, the meeting point coordinates are stored. We use your device's GPS with your permission to show nearby athletes and centre maps. You can choose between "Precise" and "Area Only" (approximate within 600m) location display in your privacy settings.
Content You Create
We store session posts, events, event chat messages, connection requests, and direct messages you send through the app.
GPX Files
If you attach GPX route files to events, these files are stored in our cloud storage and accessible to event participants.
Device and Usage Data
We may collect basic device information (device type, operating system version) and app usage analytics to improve the service. We do not track you across other apps or websites.
3. Why We Collect This Data
We only collect data that is necessary to provide the core service: connecting you with compatible training partners near you.
Specifically, we use your data to: match you with athletes by pace, sport, and location; display your profile to potential training partners; enable communication between connected athletes; show nearby session posts and events on the map; send push notifications about connection requests, event reminders, and nearby sessions (with your consent); and improve and maintain the app.
4. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)
We process your data based on: Contract performance — processing necessary to provide the Cadenly service you signed up for; Legitimate interest — analytics and service improvement; Consent — push notifications and location access, which you can withdraw at any time through your device settings or in-app privacy settings.
5. How We Store and Protect Your Data
Your data is stored securely using Supabase, a cloud database platform with servers in the European Union. Profile photos and GPX files are stored in Supabase Storage. All data is transmitted over encrypted HTTPS connections. Row-level security policies restrict data access at the database level. We do not sell your personal data to anyone.
6. Third-Party Services
We use trusted third-party services for authentication, database and file hosting, maps and geocoding, and push notification delivery. These providers process your data only as necessary to deliver the service and are bound by their own privacy policies. We select providers that meet industry security standards and, where possible, host data within the European Union.
7. Data Sharing
We share your data only as follows: your profile (display name, sport, pace, location, photo, bio) is visible to other authenticated Cadenly users; messages are visible to their recipients; event chat is visible to event participants; we may disclose data if required by law. We never sell your personal data to advertisers or third parties.
8. Data Retention
We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we permanently remove your profile data, messages, session posts, events, and uploaded files within 30 days. Some data may persist in encrypted backups for up to 90 days before being permanently deleted.
9. Your Rights
Under GDPR and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to access, correct, delete, and port your data.
Specifically, you have the right to:
Access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you.
Rectification — correct any inaccurate data via Edit Profile or by contacting us.
Erasure — delete your account and all associated data via Settings → Delete Account, or by contacting us.
Data portability — request your data in a machine-readable format.
Withdraw consent — disable location access or push notifications at any time through your device settings.
Object — object to data processing based on legitimate interest.
Lodge a complaint — file a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Poland, this is UODO (Urząd Ochrony Danych Osobowych) at uodo.gov.pl.
To exercise any of these rights, email us at hello@cadenly.app. We will respond within 30 days.
10. Children's Privacy
Cadenly is for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
11. Push Notifications
With your permission, we send push notifications for: connection requests received and accepted, event reminders, nearby session alerts, and direct messages. You can disable notifications in Settings → Notifications within the app, or through your device's notification settings.
12. Location Privacy Controls
Cadenly provides in-app privacy settings: "Precise" mode shows your exact training location to other users; "Area Only" mode shows an approximate location within a 600-metre radius. You can switch between these at any time in Settings → Privacy. You can also revoke location permission entirely through your device settings, though this will limit the app's core functionality.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through the app or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when it was last revised.
